Police to enforce security and order in parliamentary elections

TEHRAN, Jan. 20 (MNA) -- Tehran Police Chief Brigadier-General Ahmad Reza Radan has said that a plan has been drawn for enforcing tight security and order during the March 14 parliamentary elections.

“We have no concern about maintaining the security of the election… just like previous votes; the parliamentary elections will be held in tight security through implementation of the plan,” Radan said as he visited the offices of Tehran Times and Mehr News Agency last Thursday.

According to the law, the police are responsible for maintaining security and order on election day and also provide security in campaign meetings regardless of the participants’ political interests, Radan explained.

He warned parliamentary nominees and their supporters against “misbehavior in elections”.

“On election day, we will mobilize all our forces… and we hope we will have the most secure elections,” Radan stated.
